An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a computer and functions as the intermediary between applications and the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). A lot like a personal computer, hosting servers also use an Operating System which functions as a host for all of the software installed on them, including script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you will be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available on the market and we supply all three rather than only 1 since we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements regarding the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're various software applications you can install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS in case you wish to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels too. In case you decide that you need some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server packages that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license taxes, but they are also regarded as the most reliable and risk-free OSs. We supply three different ones for the reason that each of them is supported by a different community. The packages which you could add on your hosting server are different and this may matter if you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you'll select. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order procedure, yet if necessary, we can always set up the server once again with another one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the package any time, we can update the OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible.
